Day 2 of my “12 Days of Bible Journaling” journey! Today I am studying Luke 1:25 – 38 ESV,
So what’s going on in these verses?
Well, God sends the angel Gabriel to tell the virgin Mary that she is going to have a baby, that he will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. He will be given the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever: his kingdom will never end. vs 30-33
Of course, Mary’s first question is “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” vs 34
Gabriel proceeds to tell her that “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy–the Son of God” vs35
And do you know what Mary said?!!!! “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” That probably would not have been my reaction!!!
Mary was willing and submissive. Not the politically correct response that women are told they should have in today’s society. Mary was willing to submit to God’s purpose (yesterday’s study) for her life! She didn’t argue, or put it off, or ask that someone else be chosen – she just willingly submitted to what God wanted for her! I need to be more like that! I need to listen to what God has for me and be willing submit my life to Him and His purpose – that will be my prayer today!
So here is my journaling for today! I was encouraged and convicted Mary’s willing and submissive spirit! I want to be more like her!
I had already prepared the page with gesso, (If you don’t know how or why you should do this you can access my free resource library below. I have a tutorial on “Using Gesso in Bible Journaling” there!), I also stamped and colored the bulbs yesterday. When my grandchildren look through this bible, and I hope that they will, I want them to know that this is the real Christmas story! Today I underlined what encouraged me and added my thoughts in the margin. I also stamped the branch to divided this from the rest of the page which I will journal tomorrow. I always add the date that I journaled. You can find a list of products used below!!
Share with me any comments, questions, encouragements that you find in these passages! I would love to hear your thoughts on these verses!
Thanks for stopping by today. Be Blessed, Mary Ann
PS. I did make a mistake in listing chapters that I will be journaling for the next 12 days in my post yesterday! I will be going over Luke 1&2 ESV – Luke 1&3. Only human!!!!
