12 Days of Bible Journaling – The Christmas Story

Hello Eveyone,

I am embarking on a new journey today!  12 Days of consecutive bible journaling and blogging!  This is going to be interesting.  I don’t usually journal or blog every day so this will be a challenge for me.  God has put it on my heart to do this and to share it with you!! We will see how I do???

So I will be journaling Luke 1 – 3 ESV and Matthew 1 ESV – The Christmas Story!  Let’s get started:

The first thing that I did (that I always do when bible journaling was pray for wisdom, open eyes and heart, and clarity!  Next I read and reread the passages several times to really get a good understanding of who this passage is about and what is going on!

Today I started with Luke 1:1-24  The story of Zacharias and Elizabeth being told that they were going to have a child in their old age and that he would be a special child with a special purpose!

Next I prepared my bible pages with clear gesso so that I could actually journal on them.  If you haven’t used gesso or don’t know what it is used for you can access my free resource library below.  I have a tutorial on “Using Gesso in Bible Journaling” there.

After reading the passage several times I realized that the thought “created for a purpose” kept coming to me – God’s way of showing me that both Zacharias and Elizabeth were created for the purpose of being parents to John the Baptist and that John was created for the purpose of “going before Christ” vs 16 ESV .   We are all created by God for a purpose!  How exciting is that!!

So – What purpose has God created me for and am I fulfilling that purpose in my life?  That is the question that I now have to answer.

This is how I journaled my thoughts today:

I used the Christmas bulbs because I wanted to tag these passages as the Christmas Story and I underlined the purpose that John the Baptist was created – vs 13 – 17 ESV.  “We Are Created for A Specific Purpose”  was what really stood out to me and what I wanted to highlight in these passages.

I hope that this gives you some food for thought on your own bible journaling journay!

Below I have a link to my free resource library – you can get the password below!  Also, I have listed all of the products that I used to create this page in my bible!

Check me out tomorrow and see what day 2 in “12 Days of Bible Journaling – The Christmas Story” brings!

Be Blessed! Mary Ann
