Another Watercolor Technique!! I love the look of watercolored designs but I must admit I am not good at the watercoloring! I can’t blend at all and my colors never coordinate like I want them too. So, when I learned this technique this weekend at a Stampaway convention I was very excited. I created this awesome card in a techniques class that I took. This was accomplished with some art crayons, a butterfly stamp and a water spritzer.
I look forward to the Stampaway convention every year and this year did not disappoint! I love going to the classes with my brother, Will. This year we had 4 classes and loved all of them. I learned a lot of new techniques and this watercolor card was one of them. I always enjoy coming home and figuring out how to do the new stuff that I learn using our wonderful Stampin’ Up! products. This year was no different and this was the first thing that I wanted to work on. As I said before, I love the look of watercoloring, but have never been able to really do it. With this technique I can get the look and it’s easy peazy! So, I came home and created the card below with Stampin’ Up! watercolor pencils, the Humming Along stamp set, and a Stampin’ spritzer.
So How Easy Is This?
Creating this card was so easy and so fun to do. I made the hummingbird card in about 10 minutes – how awesome is that! I know that you are going to love this technique and I made a quick video to show you just how to do it. Check it out below!
Here are the supplies I used:
Watercolor Pencils vs Stampin’ Write Markers?
I tried this technique with the Stampin’ Write Markers too. I wondered if I would get the same effect. You can use the markers to stamp with but you get a crisper image with the markers and a more watercolor type image with the watercolor pencils. I have a sample below using the new Daisy Lane Stamp Set.
Here is the card I made using the same stamp set!

This is a post that I did earlier using the pencils and the new Sailing Home stamp set from Stampin’ Up!. I love the stormy background and it also is very easy to do!
